How do I check my image’s metadata?

Can I see which phone took the photo?

Yes. If the EXIF data is intact, you will see the hardware info such as Model: SM-M325F (Samsung Galaxy M32) and the system software version used at the time of capture.

What is ‘DateTimeDigitized’?

This is the exact moment the image was captured by the sensor. For example, 2023:10:22 19:50:33 tells you the photo was taken on Oct 22, 2023, at 7:50 PM.

What does ‘Software: M325FXXU7DWF3’ mean?

This refers to the internal firmware version of the device camera. In this case, it indicates a specific Samsung system update (DWF3) was active when the photo was taken.

Is ‘Last Modified’ different from capture date?

Yes. The capture date is when the shutter clicked. ‘Last Modified’ is the time the file was last saved, edited, or moved on your storage system.

Can this tool show where a photo was taken?

If your camera had “Location Tags” enabled, ToolToast will extract the GPS Latitude and Longitude coordinates from the metadata.

Which image formats are supported?

We support JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, and GIF. Note that JPG and TIFF usually contain the most detailed EXIF information.

Why can’t I see any camera info for some photos?

Social media platforms (like Facebook, WhatsApp, or Instagram) often strip metadata to protect privacy. If you downloaded the photo from there, the metadata is likely gone.

Does ToolToast track my location?

Never. We don’t even know what photo you are viewing. Everything happens in your browser’s RAM and disappears when you close the tab.
